Amelanchier canadensis

Many white star-shaped blossoms adorn the branches in early summer, followed by blue-black edible berries, which birds love, then stunning flame coloured autumn foliage.   A shrub that naturally grows in a well-branched form and requires only a little pruning in winter or early spring.  Ideal at the back of a border or on banks. It does not have the Award of Garden Merit but performs so well, giving many months of colour,  so worth a place in any garden.

Plant in sun or part shade although autumn colour is best when grown in full sun.  Moist well drained, lime-free soil. H7.  Grows up to 3m H in 10 years.

Large plants available for collection only.
