Dryopteris filix-mas Male Fern

A beautiful, elegant, yet tough, easy to grow plant.  Perfect to fill a shady corner, to edge a pond, or for the woodland garden.  The fascinating spiral fronds unfurl in spring and the leaves grow quite large by summer, forming an impressive clump.

This architectural foliage plant can be grown in a large pot so long as it does not dry out.

Plant in part or full shade and any moist, well drained soil. Will grow in full sun if the soil is kept moist. Dies back in winter and sends up lots of fresh growth each spring.  In late autumn, cut down old foliage and use to mulch around the base of the plant.

H & S up to 1 m but smaller if contained in a pot. H 7.

Supplied in a 9 cm pot.
