Artichoke ‘Romanesco’ & ‘Violet de Provence’

An impressive perennial vegetable which will provide you with up to 10-15 globe artichokes each year.  The silvery-green, deeply toothed foliage and deep purple flower buds which attract bees and butterflies, make this perfect for a mixed border or ornamental vegetable garden.

Plant out and remove any chokes that form in the first year. Start to harvest from June in the second year. Protect the crown with straw or a mulch in winter.

At present we only have ‘Violet de Provence’  which is a French heirloom variety. Delicious to eat. Beautiful in floral arrangements too.
